About Us... Welcome To Intake Vets
We focus on personal service and continuity of care

We are a streamlined practice with 4 experienced vets concentrating solely on equine, farm and alpaca work. We encourage our clients to develop a working relationship with one main vet. Over time this allows us to build up a real understanding of your animal's needs and problems.

We are based in Hexham and cover a wide area from Newcastle and Sunderland to Haltwhistle, and from Otterburn to Durham.

Our vets are dedicated to providing a really good quality, personal service for your animals. We look after horses, farm animals and alpacas. We are primarily a mobile service allowing us to keep our charges reasonable. We also have access to hospital facilities if needed.

Nick Freeman and David Parkins are the senior vets with Nick being responsible for the equine side and David in charge of the farm and alpaca work. Jo Sutton and Suzie Clark are our able, assistant vets.

We work on a principle of 'one client - one vet'; we feel continuity of care is crucial to providing good quality veterinary care and we strive to provide that. We encourage clients to use the same vet as far as possible for all routine work.

At Intake Vets we are committed to providing the highest standard of equine welfare and care for your horse.

We offer a 24 hour service, 365 days of the year. We operate an ambulatory service based out of Hexham. One of our vets can always come out to you, and we have access to facilities to hospitalize a patient who is in need of critical care.

Farm Veterinary Services
We cover a wide area of beef, sheep and dairy farms across Northumberland offering routine visits, herd health planning and emergency veterinary attention.

We try and tailor service levels to individual farmer requirements as some only want the 'fire brigade' emergency service whereas others have regular routine visits and / or preventative medicine programs in place.

Alpaca Veterinary Services

David is highly skilled and has a wealth of experience in the field of alpaca veterinary medicine and surgery.

Jo and Cath are also very able and have learned a lot from David's expert guidance.
